Our curriculum is based on child development, with an emphasis on safety and technique. Each swim level is carefully designed to promote age appropriate swim skills, focusing on proper balance, breath control and buoyancy (the 3 B’s). Developing this foundation in a warm, safe and fun atmosphere allows children to build confidence while enjoying the process of learning to swim.

Our extensive experience has taught us that children typically learn best over time and with peers. LWSS promotes once a week, year-round, group lessons. Unlike learning to ride a bike, swimming is not a “set it and forget it” skill. More like learning a foreign language: If it isn’t practiced, swim skills can be forgotten.
Because drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death for children under age 5 in the US, we feel that every child should learn to swim as early as possible.
